Prithvi Pankaj Shaw (born November 9, 1999) is an Indian cricketer who has competed for the Indian team in all formats. In domestic cricket, he represents Mumbai and Delhi Capitals. Under his captaincy, the Indian team won the 2018 Under-19 World Cup.

Shaw, a right-handed opening batter, made his first international appearance on October 4, 2018, at the age of 18, becoming the second-youngest Indian after Sachin Tendulkar to score a Test century, as well as the youngest Indian to do so on debut.

Shaw made his first-class debut for Mumbai in the semi-finals of the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy on January 1, 2017. He scored a century in the second innings and was named man of the match. Shaw earned another distinction by scoring a century in his debut Duleep Trophy match, equaling Sachin Tendulkar's record of a century in both his Ranji and Duleep Trophy debuts.

Shaw was named by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as one of the five breakout stars of men's cricket in 2018. In July 2019, the Board of Control for Cricket in India suspended him for a doping violation, which lasted until November of the same year.

During the 2014-15 season, Prithvi Shaw and Pushkar Sharma played cricket for Mumbai's Under-16 team.

Early and personal life of Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw was born in Thane, Maharashtra, in 1999. His parents had moved from Gaya in Bihar as economic migrants, and Shaw was offered a contract by AAP Entertainment in 2001, allowing him and his father to relocate from Thane to Mumbai and continue their cricket education. He also got sponsorship from Indian Oil.

Indian Premier League (IPL)

Shaw was purchased by the Delhi Daredevils for ₹1.2 crores during the 2018 IPL auction in January 2018. Shaw became the youngest player to open batting in Indian Premier League history on April 23, 2018, when he played for Delhi Daredevils against Kings XI Punjab. He was 18 and 165 days old. He also had an impressive IPL debut, scoring 22 runs off ten balls.

On April 27, 2018, Prithvi Shaw scored his first IPL fifty against the Kolkata Knight Riders, making him the joint youngest player to do so alongside Sanju Samson (18 years and 169 days). His blistering 62-run knock helped Delhi Daredevils to a comfortable 55-run victory over KKR. Shaw became the second player in IPL history to hit six boundaries in an over, after Ajinkya Rahane, on April 29, 2021, when he hit six off Shivam Mavi in the first over of the Delhi innings
