Shreyas Santosh Iyer (born December 6, 1994) is a right-handed batter who represents India in international cricket. He has participated in all formats for the Indian team. Iyer made his debut test century and a half-century in the second innings against New Zealand in November 2021, becoming the first Indian player to do so. Iyer represents Mumbai in domestic cricket and captains Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. He competed for the India Under-19 Cricket Team in the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He was named to India's 2023 Cricket World Cup squad. He was part of the Indian team that won the 2023 Asia Cup.

Shreyas Iyer was born on December 6, 1994 in Chembur, Bombay (Mumbai). His father, Santosh Iyer, is Tamilian, and his mother, Rohini Iyer, is a Tuluva. His ancestors were from Thrissur, Kerala. He attended Don Bosco High School in Matunga and the Ramniranjan Anandilal Podar College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai.

At the age of 18, Iyer was noticed by coach Pravin Amre at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana. Amre trained him in his early cricketing career. Iyer's teammates in the age groups used to compare him to Virender Sehwag. During his graduation from Podar College in Mumbai, Iyer helped his college team win some trophies.
